The 2022 vintage opens with an intriguing mix of graphite, pencil shavings and crème de cassis, layered with wild herbs, violets and sweet spice. Rich and expansive on the palate, lush blackcurrant takes centre stage, supported by balanced tannins, fresh acidity and well-integrated oak. Rooted in Penfolds' three-decade Californian journey, Bin 600 brings together heritage South Australian vine cuttings planted in California in 1998, including fruit from the original vines that helped shape this chapter of the Penfolds story. The 2020 vintage opens with cranberry, raspberry and goji berry, layered with pomegranate molasses, North African spice and dark chocolate. On the palate, generous red, blue and black fruits meet rhubarb, Morello cherry and subtle baking spice, while Shiraz lends warmth and depth beneath Cabernet's bright fruit character. Fine tannins and balanced acidity keep the wine fresh and poised, making it approachable now while offering the promise of further development through 2040.

The Cabernet Sauvignon grape varietal is widely planted across South Australia's premium wine regions, particularly in the Limestone Coast where grapes with tremendous structure and beautiful aromatics are found. Well-regarded since its launch in 2002, the Koonunga Hill Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the merits of multi-regional blending to Penfolds 'House Style'. A bold, full bodied wine displaying lovely aromatics, excellent structure, and great length.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon parcels sourced from vineyards throughout the Barossa. The fruit is fermented for up to 14 days, then aged for 12 months in a mix of French and American oak. Individual parcels of fruit are matured separately to maximise the blend's complexity and finalised through a selection process. The resulting wine is rich and concentrated with aromas of ripe dark berry fruits, blackcurrants and plums with mint and varietal leafy notes. The palate is plush with flavours balanced by fine, textural tannins.
